Upon completion of the application process to CDE, TILA requires an application process to its Alternative Teacher Licensure program that serves to support both the candidate and the program towards the successful completion of the licensure program.
This process includes the following steps:
-
Completion of the Alternative Teacher Licensure Application Form – this form provides TILA with important information to support candidates’ process in the Alternative Teacher Licensure Program including employment information, educational background, contact information, and demographic data. The application must include a check for the application fee made payable to The Teacher Institute.
- If necessary, completion of the Haberman Online Assessment - this assessment assists both program administrators and candidates in determining appropriate placements that offer the greatest possibility for success based on candidates’ strengths and needs.
- Group Interview: every TILA applicant must participate in a two-hour group interview, which will ask the applicant to review an important piece of literature, teach a 5-7 minute lesson, and discuss professional goals related to the teaching profession.
